[…] The works discussed in the book vary thematically and generically, and the writings of Huxley are read alongside those by other writers and scholars, such as D. H. Lawrence, E. M. Forster, and Matthew Arnold. This diversity of contexts in which Huxley’s writings is placed is a great advantage of the book since it allows for both acquainting the readers with the existing criticism of the writer’s work and dwelling into new,
yet unexplored aspects of his writings. […]
[…] Huxley’s work and works provide one obvious pre-text for the texts collected in this volume, the other being the conferences for which the articles have been written. The conferences supply not only the pretext but also the context for the articles by necessitating approaching Huxley’s work from the perspectives most valid and interesting to contemporary humanities. Thus, Grzegorz Moroz’s book is not only a study of Huxley’s writings, but also of the problems and issues that prevail in contemporary literary and cultural studies. The book comprises 11 articles, each reflecting a different period of the author’s interest in Huxley’s work and exploring divergent themes.
